The United Premier Soccer League-UPSL has officially welcomed Arlington FC as a new member starting with the 2019 Spring Season. Arlington FC, a Dallas-Fort Worth metro area club, will begin UPSL play in the Central Conference North Division, and host its home games at University of Texas at Arlington in compliance with UPSL’s Minimum Standards.
Director of Operations and Head Coach of Arlington FC, Ebby Fowobaje, 49, said, “I started my coaching career out of a deep passion for soccer and as a volunteer in Texas”. The Nigerian native further explained; “I want to help young talents build a future career in soccer”. Fowobaje was in the Nigerian National Team player pool for the 1999 FIFA World Youth Championship and is a former professional player in the Nigerian Professional Football League.
Fowobaje is currently the Director of Coaching at the Grand Prairie Complete Soccer Academy and was most recently Head Coach of Keene FC (UPSL) during the 2018 Spring Season. He has spent more than 18 years in coaching, with previous stints at Houston’s Bellaire High School, Houston’s Sugar Land High School and Houston Christian School.
United Premier Soccer League Central Conference Manager Matt Kahla said, “We think Arlington FC is a natural fit for the Central Conference. Coach Ebby is the perfect candidate to run his own club and after seeing firsthand the experience and wisdom he brings, I am excited for him to bring Arlington FC into the UPSL and show what he can do.”
Seyi Sowunmi, a registered football agent in Europe, is Co-Owner of Arlington FC. “I’m excited for him to join me as a co-owner because he will be a path to bigger things for a lot of our players, and he’s excited to see the talent that Arlington FC will put on the field,” Fowobaje said.
Arlington FC is currently hosting tryouts and will soon announce its upcoming UPSL game schedule.
