Tyler Perry, Zoe Saldaña to be honored by the Critics Association

The largest critics organization in the United States and Canada has announced the honorees for their upcoming awards. The Critics Choice Association (TCA), which represents more than 600 media critics and entertainment journalists, is slated to honor actress Zoe Zaldaña with the Groundbreaker Award while filmmaker, actor, playwright, entrepreneur, and philanthropist Tyler Perry will receive the Icon Award for his incredible body of work and achievements throughout the years.

Perry’s commitment to a wide spectrum of charitable and social justice causes has been particularly impactful and his privately owned motion picture studio on the site of a former Confederate Army base in Atlanta, Georgia, occupies more than 330 acres and provides hundreds of job opportunities in film and television production in the local area.

Zoe Saldana

Saldaña, who will be recognized for her work spanning over 20 years, stars in the Netflix’s “Emilia Pérez.” Actress Joan Chen will also receive the Career Achievement Award and will be celebrated for her storied career, most recently for her performance in Focus Features’ Dìdi.
