SILVER SPRING, MD – Janesa Media Relations, a division of Janesa Worldwide, Inc., and Lonestar Cell-MTN hosted the Runway Liberia Pre-Independence Day Reception and Fashion Showcase on Friday, July 23, 2010 at the Crowne Plaza Resort Hotel in Silver Spring, Maryland.
The evening featured performances by Liberian American musician and poet Dehconte Nyepan, hip hop artist X-travagant and the Liberian Queen of Music, Ms. Nimba Burr.
Prior to performing her latest single “Jiggy”, Ns. Burr receive the Runway Liberia Cultural Icon Award for her contributions to Liberia’s culture, art and entertainment.
The fashion showcase debuted the Oju Marie Jewelry Collection by Sylvia Tolbert and the Siasylons Collection by Sia Ngegba. The Mayietta Moore Semoner Collection and that of celebrity designer Sehar Peerzda also graced the Runway Liberia stage.
In addition to celebrating 163 years of independence for Liberia, Janesa Media promoted its charitable cause which is in relation to the rise of malaria and sickle cell disease. The charity will raise awareness and encourage the community to support medical services for people affected by these life threatening conditions. The company also announced the establishment of a fund for the Grace Morris Memorial Library and Educational Center.
The event also witnessed the presentation of a raffle draw winning price; a round trip ticket to Liberia , which was won by the representative of Trendy Africa Media; Dami Odetola.
