There are many ways to contribute to Africa’s development.
Some build companies.
Some develop technology.
Some transform agriculture.
Some create jobs.
And others tell the stories of the people doing the building.
That is where an unlikely connection emerges between Dr. Tony Bello, the familiar face many viewers recognize from the Agape Series, and Tosan Aduayi, founder of Trendy Africa Magazine.
Their professional journeys are different. Their tools are different. Yet both are connected by an interest in the ideas, enterprises and people contributing to Africa’s economic transformation.
And increasingly, that conversation leads to Cavista Holdings.
FROM SCIENCE TO SCALE
Dr. Tony Bello brings more than three decades of international experience in food science, innovation and commercialization to the African development conversation.
Today, he serves as Chief Innovation and Commercialization Officer at Matna Foods, a Cavista Holdings portfolio company. His career has included senior innovation and commercialization roles with global food companies including PepsiCo/Frito-Lay, Kellogg and Kraft, as well as advisory work involving agricultural development and value chains.
At Matna Foods, his mandate is particularly significant: helping drive innovation, product development and commercialization within Nigeria’s cassava-processing sector.
The bigger question is not simply how much Africa can produce.
It is how much value Africa can create from what it produces.
That distinction could determine the next chapter of the continent’s agricultural economy.
WHERE AGRICULTURE MEETS INDUSTRY
Cavista Holdings has positioned agriculture as one of the important pillars of its investment portfolio, with Agbeyewa Farms and Matna Foods providing an increasingly integrated presence across the cassava value chain.
In 2026, Cavista announced that Seyi “OSKA” Aiyeleso would lead both Agbeyewa Farms and Matna Foods, a move designed to strengthen coordination between large-scale cultivation and processing. Cavista said the strategy is intended to support farmers, build capacity, create jobs and develop a cassava value chain that works more effectively for Nigeria.
It is a model worth watching.
Because when farming, processing, technology, finance, logistics, markets and human capital begin working together, agriculture stops being viewed merely as subsistence activity and becomes an industrial platform.
That is the kind of transformation Africa needs.

THE CHAIRMAN’S BET ON AFRICA
At the heart of Cavista’s story is Niyi John Olajide, Founder and Chairman of Cavista Holdings.
The company’s stated mission is straightforward: fostering growth and development, creating value and transforming lives through strategic investments. Its portfolio spans sectors including agriculture, financial services, healthcare, hospitality and technology.
But the significance of such an investment philosophy goes beyond the balance sheet.
Every major African business that successfully moves from concept to scale has the potential to create something larger than its immediate commercial value: employment, skills, supplier networks, tax revenues, technology transfer and opportunities for the next generation.
That is the broader conversation surrounding Cavista’s investments.
AND THEN THERE IS THE STORYTELLER
This is where my own journey intersects with the conversation.
For more than two decades, Trendy Africa has evolved from a photo-blog concept into a multimedia platform documenting African people, culture, business and achievement.
Conceptualized in 2004, Trendy Africa describes its mission as capturing moments while presenting positive values and attributes of global issues. The platform has expanded into magazine publishing, events and multimedia storytelling.
That mission has always placed people at the center.
Because behind every company is a story.
Behind every investment is a vision.
Behind every job created is a family.
And behind every successful African enterprise is someone who decided that the continent’s challenges were not reasons to walk away—but reasons to build.
TWO WORLDS. ONE AFRICAN STORY.
Perhaps that is the real connection between the “Agape Series” guy and a media brand founder.
Dr. Tony Bello builds through knowledge, science, innovation and commercialization.
Tosan Aduayi builds through storytelling, documentation, visibility and connection.
One helps transform ideas and raw materials into products and commercial opportunities.
The other seeks to ensure that the people behind those ideas and achievements are seen, heard and remembered.
Different instruments.
Similar destination.
THE AFRICA WE WANT TO SEE
Africa’s development will not be delivered by one company, one entrepreneur or one sector.
It will require farmers and scientists.
Entrepreneurs and investors.
Engineers and technologists.
Policy makers and financiers.
And yes—journalists, photographers and storytellers.
The continent needs people willing to put sweat capital, intellectual capital, financial capital and social capital into the work of building sustainable enterprises.
That is why the evolution of companies such as those within the Cavista portfolio deserves attention.
And that is why their stories deserve to be told.
Because Africa’s next chapter should not simply be about what Africa possesses.
It should be about what Africa builds, what Africa creates, and what Africa becomes.
