The resilience shown by the Endometriosis Support Group Nigeria (ESGN) a not-for-profit organisation (NGO) in conjunction with Nordica Fertility Centre, and Diamond Bank Plc and the entire team of participants led by Dr. Abayomi Ajayi and his Wife Mrs. Ranti Ajayi during the Endometriosis Awareness Walk in Lagos is worthy of emulation.
The organizers and participants including Unoaku Anyadike; the current Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria, Ana Banner; former MBGN, Beauty Queen Nike Oshinowo, Actress Annie Idibia, Iyabo Ojo, comedian Alibaba, Millen; a Tanzanian International model and other personalities braved an early morning tropical rainfall and successfully completed the walk. The participants in the “ENDO WALK 2016” which commenced at 7am walked from City Mall Onikan, Lagos through Awolowo Road, Ikoyi and terminated in Victoria, Island.
Endometriosis is a chronic disease where tissues that are normally found lining the womb is found elsewhere in the body. These tissues form lesions which are often found on the ovaries and other organs within a woman’s pelvis. In very rare cases, they could be found in the lungs and brain.
Women with the disorder readily feel pain, irregular bleeding and have problems getting pregnant. The Endo march is a platform to educate, empower, and effect change to the debilitating disorder.
