The Association of Nigerian Women Leaders in Diaspora-ANWLD recently hosted its first annual fundraiser gala night at the Crystal City Hilton in Arlington, Virginia. Referencing the founder and National President; Mrs. Rita Amachree, MPA, CPM, the gala nights objective was to create awareness and garner support for victims of domestic violence and the Center for Women and Children Development.
ANWLD strives to build a center for Women and Child Development-CWCD in each of the 36 states of Nigeria. These centers are projected to be safe havens for women and children who do not have any recourse for assistance by providing technical support and skills in all that is needed for their well-being and integration back into society.
Special guests at the event include; Mayor Walter Lee James Jr, Mayor of Bladensburg, Mrs. Peggy Morris, Prince Georges County Office of Communications, Lilian Agwu, Nigerian Embassy and Ms. Karma Cottman, Domestic Violence Ambassador.
