Tyler James Williams stars in ‘Dear White People’

Winner of the 2014 Sundance Film Festival’s Special Jury Award for Breakthrough Talent, “Dear White People” is a satire of race relations in the age of Obama.

Writer/director Justin Simien follows four black students at Winchester University, where a riot breaks out over a popular ‘African-American’ themed party thrown by a white fraternity. With tongue planted firmly in cheek, the film explores racial identity in ‘post-racial’ America.

“Dear White People” stars Tyler James Williams (“Peeples”) who is best known for playing the title role on the Emmy Award winning series “Everybody Hates Chris,” a performance that earned him the 2007 NAACP Image Award for Best Actor in a Comedy Series.

Set for release in theaters on October 17, the film also stars Tessa Thompson (“For Colored Girls”), Teyonah Parris (“Mad Men”), Brandon P. Bell (“Hollywood Heights”), Kyle Gallner (“A Nightmare on Elm Street”), Malcolm Barrett (“The Hurt Locker”) and Dennis Haysbert (“24,” Far From Heaven).
