Tesla announced its biggest quarterly drop in deliveries ever, as sales plunged by 13% during the first three months of the year. The EV maker said Wednesday it had delivered 336,681 vehicles for the quarter as deliveries from its Shanghai factory plunged for a sixth consecutive month, protracting a global sales outlook. China is the world’s largest electric vehicle market and its most competitive.
The sales decline also demonstrates the company’s persistent problems in other markets, including Europe, where CEO Elon Musk’s involvement in politics has prompted a backlash. In the U.S., sales declined 2% in the first two months of the year.
