Nigerians excelling academically in the US

It’s graduation season in the USA and a great time for celebration, thanksgiving and reminiscing into the future. It is also worthy of note that a great number of African names especially Nigerians are mentioned during the honor role.

Worthy of note is that of 24 year old Uwa Osamede Imafidon, who just graduated from the University of Texas in Arlington with a Master’s degree in Microbiology and a GPA of 4.0.

Oyindamola Nicole Akinseye  – Summa Cum Laude, Top 10 graduate of Frisco high school ,National Honor Graduate, National merit scholar, Presidents Education Scholar Award for outstanding academic Excellence, University Interscholastic league Scholar Award for exemplary academic achievement, The State of Texas House of representative award for academic excellence ,Health Occupation students of America Award.

At the recent Timberview High School class of 2013 graduation in Mansfield Texas, Moyinoluwa Adetiba and Chealsea Ndiulor where honored with Magna Cum Laude and Cum Laude respectively. There are hundreds of other commendable mentions too.

I strongly recommend that the Nigerian Government should institute a scholarship or grant to encourage such feats abroad and attract this crop of dynamic, young and brilliant minds to return home and contribute positively to the economic growth of the country.
