Dallas – Twenty year old Emma Shika Van Lare representing Ghana has emerged the winner of the Miss Face of Africa Texas pageant for 2012. All the contestants performed excellently in all categories thereby contributing to the hosting of a successful pageant. The young, suave and energetic team at “Face of Africa Texas” pageants led by its president Nana S. Osei, spent about seven months working on the project. The event also featured entertainers including; Bandan Koro, Miss Keke and Gael Boom. Veda Loca of 97.9 the beat FM and Tendai Garandi combined to host the show.

Prelude to the grand finale, a launch party gave an insight to what is expected. The May 25, 2012 event tagged 2nd Annual Exclusive Black and White Affair held at the African American Museum in Fair Park. It was a night that highlighted the different aspects of the African Culture and heritage in our community. The official Launch Party of the Miss Face of Africa Texas 2012 Pageant revealed all the lovely 14 delegates in beautiful cocktail red dresses. The young ladies range in age from 18-24 and come from all over the state of Texas.
This year’s candidates represent 7 prominent countries in Africa including; Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, Gambia, South Sudan, Zimbabwe and Cameroon. Patrons were clad in black and white and greeted with multi colored disco lights and great sounds as they entered the venue.
At 11:30pm the ladies were then revealed coming down a cascading swirling staircase in the middle of the museum escorted by handsome men in black tie suits. Each delegate stated their name, country and platform as the crowd of 200 guest cheered in excitement and support for each delegate.
After the introduction, the delegates were left to mingle and guest were left to party on chart bursting African jams.
