Marlon Brings Humor to TBS

Best described as a comedy boot camp, it’s a show where comedians compete against one another for a big cash prize. Each week, several comedians who have been handpicked by Marlon will learn a different comedy style and get a chance to test what they’ve been shown in front of an audience, with one person being eliminated until only one remains. The winner will receive a cash prize of a $100,000 and an online series for Wayans’ site; WhatTheFunny.com.

“It’s a gritty, edgy show and every week there will be brand new material so it’s not just about stand-up comedy for there are digital shorts, musical parodies and we do animation, vines, viral videos and character challenges. It’s a variety show but a reality show also,” adds Marlon who serves as the host of the show and executive producer along with Rick Alvarez (“A Haunted House” movies).

“We picked from a large group of people and I tweeted it out as I am really active on social media and there are a lot of people on social media that wanted this opportunity. We looked at the best and that was it,” he adds on the selection process.

For Marlon who comes from a long lineage of humorous guys and was nurtured well in the business of comedy, the show offers an opportunity to help aspiring comedians. “All comedians are so different and with the show people get to see some of the behind the scenes of what it takes to make that magic happen.”

With different guest judges each week, he’s called on some of his comedy friends that include Affion Crockett, Billy West and David Alan Grier to come and help out so expect to see these three in an upcoming episode.

“I hope freedom progresses in comedy. You shouldn’t be afraid to try and find the light in any dark corner. You should say whatever you feel. I want to be known for just being real. Love me, hate me, I don’t care, as long as I am real that is all I care about.”

“Funniest Wins” airs Fridays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on TBS.
