Trendy At The Truth Awards

Better Brothers Los Angeles recently presented its 4th Annual Truth Awards at the Taglyan Cultural Complex in Hollywood. The black-tie affair honored African-Americans whose personal and professional accomplishments have positively impacted the perception and image of the Black LGBTQ community. Award-winning actor Rockmond Dunbar received the Ally Award and former NBA referee Violet Palmer, the first female to officiate an NBA game, received a Lifetime Achievement Award. Other honorees included the “Eyebrow King,” and celebrity makeup artist Damone Roberts who took home the Business Leadership Award and singer/songwriter Rahsaan Patterson who was awarded the Music & Arts Award.

Top entertainment publicist Ellene Miles of EV Miles Media Group received the Media & Arts Award and journalist Tre’Vell Anderson of the Los Angeles Times was given the Passing the Torch Award and reality star and health educator Chandi Moore with the Advocate Award. Vanessa Williams presented at the event which included a special performance by singer/songwriter Shanice.
