With screen credits that include “Fruitvale Station,” the HBO series “The Wire,” “Friday Night Lights,” the superhero drama, “The Fantastic Four,” “Creed,” and “Black Panther,” Michael B. Jordan is finally getting his accolades.

Last night at the 32nd Annual Actor Awards, the Newark native who in 2003 became the youngest African American actor to be contracted with the ABC network daytime drama series, “All My Children,” was recognized by his peers.

Jordan received the award for Male Actor in a Leading Role for his career-defining dual performance playing the roles of brothers Smoke and Stack in “Sinners.”
“I wasn’t expecting this at all. This ride has been unbelievable, so thank you for welcoming me in and making me feel seen,” Jordan shared onstage. He went on to thank his mom, who was in the audience, for taking him to auditions and “Sinners” director Ryan Coogler whom he has worked with on 5 movies.

In a modest and moving speech, Jordan also thanked his cast members on the film and acknowledged the room full of actors.
“Just being in this room right now with all these people who’ve seen me grow up in front of the camera, I feel the love and support that you’ve always given me and encouraged me to go on and do my best.”

Next up, Jordan is set to direct and star in a remake of Steve McQueen’s 1968 heist movie “The Thomas Crown Affair.” He will also star and produce an adaptation of Tom Clancy’s “Rainbow Six” where he will reprise Navy SEAL-turned-CIA operative John Clark. There’s also another “Miami Vice” movie where he will play Ricardo Tubbs and the upcoming sequel “I am Legend 2” alongside Will Smith which is currently in development.
The Actor Awards, formerly known as the Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG) was hosted by Kristen Bell and streamed live globally on Netflix.
It will be available to stream on Netflix for 28 days after the show. It is the only televised awards ceremony that exclusively honors actors in TV and film.
