Reaction by Labi Akere: It was truly an honor and privilege to wine and dine with Are DM, his bestie, Prince Aderemi and the doyen(ne) of the DFW area. We had a great time and listened to renditions by Are Dele Momodu as he switched from impeccable English language to undiluted Yoruba language. He went down memory lane and shared with us some poetry and philosophy in Yoruba. I was mesmerized by his mastery of the Yoruba language and my greatest regret was in not turning my recording on to capture some of these Yoruba proverbs that i have never heard before.
Thanks to Are DM for spending time with us and Thorpe for making this happen. God bless.
It was indeed a great honor to join my neighbors, Kola Thorpe and his heartthrob Ronke Adepitan-Thorpe and a few friends, to celebrate their bosom friend, Aare Dele Momodu, for making yet another successful trip around the Sun. It was a night of intellectually-riveting discussions. One couldn’t but be mesmerized by Aare DM’s deep mastery of both the English and Yoruba languages, lacing his contributions with very deep Yoruba wisdom nuggets, based on his lived life experiences. Wow!!! He indeed has a great story to tell, from humble beginning to a position of great stature. DM came across as an authentic fella very comfortable in his own skin and content with where God has positioned him in life. As usual, wherever you have two or more Great Ife Alumni members present, there must be a shift in the atmosphere. Four of us were present, including Aare, and we did not disappoint. It was a night to remember. Happy 65th Birthday, Aare Dele Momodu.
