Dance4Africa reveals the thrills of Africa in Houston

HOUSTON – African Arts literally has the ability to stimulate the senses in whatever form it is presented. At the recently held “Dance4Africa” event in Houston, stimulating renditions through intelligent artistic works by Ugandan artist Dan Sekanwagi and an energetic dance performance by Kuumba House created the much needed energy for the event conceptualized by the Afropolitan Experience.

As a young African in diaspora, George Ukomadu, Founder and Publisher of the Afropolitan Experience has always aspired to creating an enabling environment where young Africans in diaspora can effectively connect to Africa. His belief is that young Africans do not have to worry about fitting in or “belonging”; all they need to do is create the enabling platform. Hasifa Najjemba and Ezinne Adibe; events manager and Managing Director respectively of the Afropolitan Experience have both contributed their wealth of experience at actualizing such enabling concept with the Dance4Africa event.

Other highlights of the day included a fashion show rendition by Kachi designs, great acoustics by Donnie sands, Acoustic Ambience and internittent music by DJ Maurice Perkins. MC Kwame Hall steered the events proceedings with some twist of humor. Dance4Africa also featured a dance workshop session facilitated by Anna, Bisi Odunbaku and Muhamed Kivumbi.
