U.S, China ease off on tariffs

U.S. President Donald Trump said he had agreed to lower tariffs on China in exchange for promises on fentanyl, rare earths and soybeans after meeting with counterpart Xi Jinping Thursday.

The one-year agreement would decrease the levies on Chinese goods by 10%, to a 47% rate. Trump said China pledged to crack down on the chemicals used to make fentanyl, ease export controls on rare earths for one year and resume buying American soybeans.
