The 23rd annual convention of Ogbakor Ikwerre USA, Inc. held successfully at the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport Marriott Hotel in Irving Texas and was hosted by the Ogbakor Ikwerre Dallas group. The 2019 convention which ran from May 24-26 was themed; “Ikwerre first: Revisiting our core values and redefining our social obligations for the development of Ikwerre land”. The three-day event featured executive meetings, town hall conference, youth and children events and tours, reception dance party and a gala night among others.
OIUSA is a community based non-profit representation group of Ikwerre indigents with no affiliation to any domestic or foreign political organization. The organization is a single entity with no chartered regional chapters; although, members are encouraged to congregate among themselves in their local communities worldwide. One of the objectives of OIUSA is to organize charitable activities that enhance the economic, health and educational well-being of Ikwerre and other communities.
In his welcome address, the outgoing President, Mr. Chile Chuku, thanked the 2019 national convention planning committee members under the leadership of Mr. Max Oparaodu, for all their efforts in organizing the Dallas convention. Mr. Chuku, on behalf of OIUSA and in fulfillment of their 501c3 status, made a donation to the ‘Reserve Food Truck”, an outreach of North-Park Presbyterian Church of Christ in Dallas. The program is set up to reverse hunger in Dallas, Texas. He also made a donation to ‘St6nes, a Catalyst of Hope. Mr. Chuku later in the convention passed on the leadership baton to the former PRO, and now newly elected president, Mr. Eric Welle.
