John Fagbemi receives Chieftaincy Title in Abeokuta

Nigeria 08 – As a mark of gratitude, respect and recognition to numerous community services, the Ijaiye-Abeokuta Christian Council of Chiefs recently installed John Oladayo Fagbemi as the Asiwaju of Ijaiye-Abeokuta Christians. Mr. Fagbemi will now be officially addressed as Asiwaju John Fagbemi.

The installation ceremony held at the grounds of the First Baptist Church Ijaiye Abeokuta; the first Baptist Church in west Africa and was conducted by Oloye Olawale Otesile (Balogun Onigbagbo Ilu Ijaiye) and Oloye James Oladapo Fagbemi (Aare Onigbagbo Ilu Egba).

Friends and Family of Asiwaju John Fagbemi had arrived from the UK and USA to witness the historic occasion. Titles were also conferred to twelve other noble citizens of the community.

The ceremony was very precise with the anointing and official conferment as the highlights. The ceremony extolled Christian values. Asiwaju John Fagbemi later led his delegation to the Palace of the Alake and paramount ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo CFR Okukenu IV for the traditional blessings.

The Alake reminded Asiwaju John about his expected responsibilities as a title holder and a servant to the community. In turn, Asiwaju thanked the paramount ruler for the prayers and blessings and promised to live up to his responsibilities.

Guests were later entertained at the N.U.T hall, Asero Abeokuta were a live band performed to the admiration of all present.
