The new Mercedes Benz E 63 AMG has been given a major high performance boost in the shape of the top-of-the-range E 63 AMG S Model. With 585 hp and 800 Nm of torque, the E 63 AMG S Model is the most powerful vehicle in the E-Class range and the fastest E-Class ever offered in the UK.

With an AMG rear axle limited-slip differential lock as standard, the new E 63 AMG S Model benefits from a 28 hp and 80 Nm increase over the standard E 63 AMG and is 0.1 seconds faster, reaching 62 mph from a standing start in just 4.1 seconds for the Saloon and 4.2 seconds for the Estate.

Inside, the unique interior includes black nappa leather upholstery with grey contrast stitching, silver seat belts, an AMG emblem in the headrests, an electric rear roller blind for the Saloon, AMG door sills with white LED illumination, and an AMG instrument cluster with red applications and S Model badging.

The E 63 AMG S Model Saloon is priced from over $100,000.

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars proudly presents the world debut of Wraith, the most powerful and dynamic Rolls-Royce in history. At its heart lie hallmark Rolls-Royce attributes of luxury, refinement and hand-craftsmanship, but the new model from the world’s pinnacle super-luxury marque also presents a unique character defined by power, style and drama.

In profile, Wraith’s sweeping fastback design gives the car its unique character. Bold lines, tension in the panels and a raked rear screen evoke the image of a world class athlete poised in the starting blocks. Further expression of dynamic intent can be seen in Wraith’s deeply recessed grille, wide rear track and dramatic two-tone presentation.

Coach doors open to reveal a sumptuous interior complete with softest Phantom-grade leathers and expanses of wood called Canadel Panelling. Named after the famous cove in the South of France where Sir Henry Royce and his design and engineering teams spent their winters, this contemporary and tactile finish sweeps through the interior, cosseting four occupants in a space bathed in light and warmth.

The interior ambiance is complemented by Starlight Headliner, a Bespoke feature available beyond Phantom family cars for the first time. 1,340 fibre optic lamps are hand-woven into the roof lining to give the impression of a glittering, starry night sky.

Performance delivers on the promise of Wraith’s styling. Power delivery is effortless, but dramatic, thanks to a V12 engine married to 8-speed automatic ZF transmission. 624 bhp / 465kW is available to the driver while the 0-60 mph sprint is achieved in 4.4 seconds, compared with 563 bhp / 420kW and 0-60 in 4.7 seconds for Ghost.

The 2013 Chicago Auto Show closed Monday, and it was a raging success with the public, attracting a huge crowd during its 10-day run, said Mark Bilek, the show’s director of communications and technology.

First staged in 1901, the Chicago Auto Show is the largest auto show in North America and has been held more times than any other auto exposition on the continent.

This year marks the 105th edition of the Chicago Auto Show. Ace photographer Kayode Ojo (scorpiojo)visited the show with his son and sent us these photos.

Mercedes have unveiled their 2013 Formula One car, the F1 W04, at the Jerez circuit in Spain. The launch took place after Nico Rosberg had given the new machine a brief shakedown earlier in the day for filming purposes.

According to the team, the basic concept of the F1 W04 is a sophisticated evolution of last year’s car. Its design was led by engineering director Aldo Costa, under the coordination of technical director Bob Bell.

“2013 marks the start of a second era for our Silver Arrows works team,” said Mercedes’ team principal Ross Brawn. “The restructuring we undertook at the team over the past 18 months are now growing in maturity and this is reflected in the F1 W04, which is a clear step forward in design and detail sophistication over its predecessor.

Initial aerodynamic testing for the F1 W04 began in early summer 2012 and has resulted in a new five-element front wing design and a second-generation Coanda exhaust at the rear of the car. The car retains pushrod front suspension and a pullrod rear suspension (which the teams says is to optimise tyre life and performance), while the rear end has been aggressively packaged to optimise aerodynamic development potential.

The debut of the 2013 Bentley Continental GT Speed, billed as the fastest Bentley ever, comes in with a top speed of 205 miles an hour. The new GT Speed has an acceleration time clocked by Bentley itself at four seconds to 60 miles an hour, certainly in super car company.

The Continental, an exotic high performance ultra-luxury coupe, is Bentley’s best-selling car, and it comes in eight variations. There’s the GT, GT Speed and GT Supersports, each in coupe and convertible models. All of them have 12-cylinder engines and all-wheel drive, and each sells for somewhere north and south of a quarter of a million dollars, including bespoke (that is, custom) options that also are aimed at keeping exclusivity-oriented buyers titillated.

When Bentley brags about the new GT Speed’s speed, it’s talking about a machine with that maximum of 205 miles an hour. It’s a rare something you might be able to attain on an aircraft runway, a deserted stretch of Germany’s autobahn or a racetrack with a long straightaway. But mostly it’s a bragging rights and feel-good thing, just knowing you could do it.
