2nd Annual LGE “Head Wrap” competition promises great Excitement

Arlington, TX – As contestants sharpen their skills to compete at the 2nd annual “La Femme Gele Extraordinaire” Dallas event, the organizers of the unique concept are ensuring that proceedings progress with increased velocity. LGE 2011 is set to hold at the ultra luxurious Meridian Gardens Lounge in Arlington Texas on the 5th of November, 2011 between 7pm and 11pm. The Varcase inspired venue boasts of 100% leather sofa’s to ensure attendees ultimate comfort, a full bar and transcontinental menu.

Corporate giants in the USA including Arik Air, Dish Network, Kingz motors and Axxess Technologies have endorsed the event as brand sponsors. With over six years of archived images of African sculptured head wraps “gele”, the season has arrived for us to conceptualize an event to celebrate the rich African culture through live display of “gele” contraptions.

LGE 2011 is a multicultural event conceptualized by Trendy Africa Magazine and produced by Sketch 44 to create a platform for skilled head wrap sculptors to come together and compete for prizes and a trophy. The ultimate objective of LGE is to create a unique conduit for projecting the rich cultural values of Africa as well as to create a healthy avenue for the display of skills, products and services. La Femme Gele Extraordinaire” is designed to be an annual head wrap pageant attracting participants from several states and promoting African Culture and Heritage on a different pedestal.

In today’s African fashion world, the head wrap is seen as a glorious accessory sculptured to fit on beautiful heads like a crown. They come in all forms, shapes, colors and sizes to compliment the apparels; usually African outfits worn by the individual.

The team at Trendy Africa is poised at ensuring maximum entertainment and unique segments for each of the future LGE pageants. Statistically, a growing number of African and sub Continental Women compliment their attires with well sculptured and colorful head wraps. Top Texas fashion exponent Afrik Couture will be on hand to spice up the atmosphere with about 20 Afro centric designs from her stable while DJ Nana B and selected comedians would ensure no dull moment. LGE 2011 benefits SAD (speak up against domestic violence).

LGE 2011 will feature Liberian born pop artist Jodi who will also be making his first appearance in Dallas. Jodi has previously featured with Nigerian born Chelle. Jodi’s first release titled “Jodi.com” featuring hit singles; Liberia girl and think about you earned great reviews. An innovative singer and song writer, Jodi is inspired by R&B legends such as Michael Jackson, Brian McKnight and Lucky Dube. Jodi will also give out complimentary CD’s to guests.
